Class Info

God’s creativity is diverse. His consistency, order and structure can be seen and appreciated through the patterns and rules of mathematics.  Through opportunities to observe, identify, copy, obey and appreciate the patterns and rules of mathematics, children’s understanding of God and His world grows.

Our school strives to develop skilful mathematicians who develop logical and creative thinking, reasoning and problem-solving skills, which are skills God intended His intelligent creation to develop and use responsibly in everyday life. Mathematics will prepare students for a life of service on this earth and in preparation for the eternity to come.

Our school vision recognises that students need to develop essential life skills. Mathematics develops logical and creative thinking, reasoning and problem-solving skills and mathematical competence for everyday living.

Mathematics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in quantities, space, and time. Statistics is the exploration and use of patterns and relationships in data. These two disciplines are related but different ways of thinking and of solving problems. Both equip students with effective means for investigating, interpreting, explaining, and making sense of the world in which they live.

Mathematicians and statisticians use symbols, graphs, and diagrams to help them find and communicate patterns and relationships, and they create models to represent both real-life and hypothetical situations. These situations are drawn from a wide range of social, cultural, scientific, technological, health, environmental, and economic contexts (NZ Curriculum).
